Complete and Utter Conti

Wow wow wow... my favourite show at the Fringe so far is Nina Conti.

A one woman stand up/ventriloquism show with her normal monkey and other puppets... sounds weird... go and see her... she's fantastic!

Check her out at: http://youtube.com/watch?v=bqM5uVd4lT8

Gary What's On?

This is Gary, he is cool. I promised him I'd blog about him!
He'd like a nice girl to have fun with. He is a nice, sensitive guy, he likes soft puppys and joggers in subways.
Gary's favourite fruits are pears and plums.
He nearly died but is ok now.
We all love Gary!
Three cheers for Gary.
Gary is also one of 'Rosa blogs' most commited readers.

WOW WOW WOW!!

Right girls, you've all seen the guy in the new D&G advert (yes the one that means nothing but has the hottest guy in!)... Well just for you... here he is! Amazing!

So good they named it twice!

Yes i'm off to New York, New York in 8 days time! Just in time for the Fourth of July!

I am so excited!

Just a little holiday to see a lovely friend of mine!

I'll send you all a blogcard!

We've moved!

So the glamorous world of the media...

My production has just moved in to a new office in a lovely area of Belfast and just in time for the 12th July Marching Season with bomb fires and celebrations!

The move went fairly smoothly, we had a selection of 'hunks' to carry boxes as we watched and decided on the important things like which desks we should have!

Thanks boys!

Dance Tonight

I love Paul McCartney's new song Dance Tonight.
I love the iTunes advert and his little dance and all the whistling. I think Sir Paul can pull it off, but i would be embarassed if my Dad danced like that!
I like the world he is in, i'd like to live there.

The official music video is ok, maybe a bit disappointing. Kieran, who knows everything about most things, agrees with me on this.

I like the fact that Mackenzie Crook and Natalie Portman appear in it, but it looks a little 70s-ish! And there is not enough whistling in the official one! I like a good whistle!

Phil is a great whistler... he does a mean Coronation Street!

Dr Doc

This is Kieran, one of my fellow Rover-ers, he is a really brainy kind of chap.

Earlier this week we had an amazing storm, as we all stared, noses pressed against the window like we'd never seen rain before, Kieran still had his think cap on!

He was able to tell us how far away the lightening was, just by counting... pure genius!

Rock on Kieran!

It's all about me!

Another thing that I had decided for my birthday weekend was that I was to be the main attraction in all photographs!

4 Day Festival!

Last weekend we had a 4 day festival to celebrate my birthday!!

My friend Tash came over on the Saturday from sunny Swindon , home of the roundabout! So on the Saturday night we had a night out.
A few folk came round to mine for bubbly then we headed to The Potthouse , it was great fun, everyone was up for a good bit of craic and a boogie! After that we headed back my place for a party!
The rule of parties at our house is that every one must wear a hat, from our fully stocked 'hat shelf'!

I include a few pitures of this!

The party was great because at about 3am the legend that is Gohir, rocked up in the G-Mobile, he shared my hat, a pink cowboy hat that our lovely assistant cameraman found(?!) in The Potthouse!!

All my friend here are so great, and we all had a fab night out!

The next day (my actual birthday), they all came round and Tash and I cooked a great big roast dinner, it was lovely!

The wonders of the Ulster Fry

Ah the Ulster Fry... As an English girl in Belfast, this is one of my favourite discoveries.

But in a few weeks I am off for a long weekend in Donegal, and the Hotel we are staying in serves a 'Full Irish Breakfast'.
How does this differ to and my beloved Ulster Fry?
Will it be as good?
I hate disappointments.

I had a look on Ulster Fry but it didn't have any information on the alternative breakfast in question.
I know that Gary from Ulster Fry . co. uk is an avid reader of 'Rosa Blogs' so maybe he could shed some light... Gary?

Well if you think you know the answer please let me know. And in true Ulster Fry style, the best correct response wins the ingredients of an Ulster Fry

Do check out The Ulster Fry website too, it's pretty good.

Tell Me It's Not True

I'm soooooo excited... I've booked tickets to see Blood Brothers at Belfast's Grand Opera House for my friend Tashy's birthday.

It's going to be great, it's my favourite musical (well, joint first with Rent) and Tash loves her musicals too.

Yay!

P.S. This is a picture of Tashy, she's cool!

So long, farewell

Daniel - the only Joseph for me.

This evening saw the nation make a big mistake.

Through reasons I can not begin to understand, Daniel was voted out of 'Any Dream Will Do'.

I'm shocked, in tears, utterly bewildered. Daniel will remain my Joseph.

Daniel, good luck from here on, you're a star.

Pulling on the A2

Rule 1: What happens on the A2, stays on the A2.

The A2, a delightful dual carriageway, running from the fair city of Belfast to the beautiful town of Bangor… and beyond.

This morning, whilst making my way to work at approximately 9.40am, so the road was fairly quite, a gentleman / hot guy driving a very nice MR2 cruised in the lane next to me beeping his horn and waving at me. I drove on ahead, and then again he appeared beside me, totting away.

Is this a sign from god? "Rosa your single days are over" (suggest mimicking in a powerful yet slightly holy voice).
Did this guy realise the inner and outer beauty that I convey on a Friday morning, and every other morning in fact?? Maybe! After all I was looking rather cool in my over-sized shades, blasting out the Rolling Stones.

Or… Is this a sign that my brake lights are out? And I was being warned of the danger I was causing to myself and other road users. (Thanks for that suggestion Tash!)

Or... Has Gohir contacted Citybeat 96.7FM, as threatened, and told the world to look out for Rosa and Rubybelle The First, so this guy was merely responding to this radio request. Does he win a prize? Are Citybeat cashing in on my image??

Well whatever the reason (and I'm sure you'll all agree the first would be most accurate) it was a good way to start a Friday...

... And I like Fridays!

Run My Life...

I have decided that after the last week of ups and downs in the 'World Of Rosa', that it is your turn to take over!

From now on, you, the readers, decide what i do, what direction my life goes in. A bit like Danny Wallace when he did the 'Yes Man'.

So please tell me what to do... it must be within reason... I must be able to continue work, it must be legal, and I'm not getting naked in public, but other than that... YOU CHOOSE!

Please add you suggestions in the comments and if enough of you think i should do something, i will!

I am no good at turning down a challenge!

Work away... do your worst!

Even More Bad News!

I thought that i had had a bad day on Wednesday... but today is worse!

Something has happened in my life that is going to change the future for here on...

I was chatting with a friend of mine, Burgin, who being the fountain of knowledge that she is, informed me of something rather worrying...

Burgin, who has always been involved in pantos, was in Peter Pan at the Swindon Wyvern, with the one and only Daniel Boys ! Anyway the bad news she has dumped on me is... He is gay! I thought he loved me but it seems not!

I still think he's great (even if i do have to change my entire life plan now!)

Bad Day!

So on Wednesday i got dumped! Wasn't a serious thing, but i still got dumped... by text! Whilst waiting at the station for a train to work! Nice!

You think this is bad... no it got worse...

Worked late until about 9pm, then went to City Hospital station to get the train home to Holywood... simple i hear you hark, how can this go wrong?? well it can and it did...

I got on the 9.11pm train and having just passed Belfast Central, I thought great, not too much longer, I'll be home by 9.30pm. Along came the ticket collector, and I asked to purchase a ticket to Holywood.

“Where?” he said.
“Holywood” I repeated.
“I think you are on the wrong train, this is the Londonderry train!”

Bollocks i thought! I asked him when the next stop was and assumed I could get a train/taxi back from there.

He explained that the next stop was not until Mossley West and, checking his timetable, said it would be a long wait for a train back to Belfast from there. He said Mossley West was well dodgy and waiting there was not a good idea, he suggested the best option was to stay on the train to Antrim, where I could organise to meet a taxi back to Holywood.

I finally got home at 10.30pm, having been to Antrim and spent £30 on a taxi back. Needless to say I was not in the best of moods, so went to bed!

So to sum it up...

I got dumped and went to Antrim... the making of a shit day!

I think I'm in love!

VOTE DANIEL!

Right, I am not a regular viewer of shows of this kind but having caught just one night of the BBC's 'Any dream will do', I am addicted, and the reason... DANIEL BOYS! He is amazing and I think I love him! I am not going out on Saturday nights for the next five weeks, I am spending them with Daniel!

I think it's possible that he could love me too...

Firstly - Daniel, i've seen the way you look at me out of the television.

Secondly - Being the 'weird stalker type' i am, i've read his profile on the BBC website and checked out his hobbies... they are just the same as mine...

"Obviously I love to sing and act, but apart from that I love to cook, go walking, read (although not as often as I should), go to the cinema and go out for dinner with friends. I love eating, and sleeping is a favourite of mine too!"

See perfect... I'm always singing and acting (much to everyone elses dismay), I am a GREAT cook, and therefore love to eat! I can walk, I can read... and I'm great at sleeping! And Daniel, if you want to take me out for dinner and to the cinema, i'm yours! See, PERFECT - It must be love!

SO if any one out there knows Daniel, and wants to pass on my number to him, please do!!

And remember readers,

VOTE DANIEL!

English girl in Belfast...

Brace yourselves... It's official, I have a been offered another job here, so I will be staying in this fair land for a 'wee' bit longer.

I know this may be upsetting for my English readers... but fear not, one day Rosa shall return. Until then, remember my wise words...
'It's OK to be single'

But for my Northern Irish readers, please try and control your happiness... Gohir I can already see you dancing for joy, like a ballerina on heat. Think calm thoughts.

Sum this up!

I have never been great at maths but this i have been able to sum up...

2 girls
+
1 bottle of vino blanco
+
1 bar of dairy milk
+
1 Bridget Jones type DVD
=
Self help + Girl Power + the overwhelming relief in convincing eachother you're happy singles
/
The next morning: feeling really shit and sure that no one will ever love you like in the DVD + getting frail and old with the sad company of only your 10 cats.

I challenge you to find a girl that hasn't experienced this!

Friday 13 April 2007

Swindon, this is Swindon...

My apologies for my absence other the past few weeks, I am sure Gohir has missed the daily humourous comments relating to the life of RosaCB!
So this week i have been in Swindon, described by the author Mark Haddon, fairly accurately, as 'the arsehole of the world'!!
Not much has happened really, just been drinking coffee with old friends and eating egg shaped chocolate, all in all a good week!
Fact of the day: My friend Tasha works for the railway in Swindon, although she ensures me she is not the fat controller!

Belfast Fashion Week

So last night I went to the press night for the opening of Belfast Fashion Week
Laura and I got all dressed up in our most fashionable atire, got in the mood for 'playing it cool' and off we went!
Sadly the show was rather disappointing but the free drink and goody bag much appreciated!
To cut a long story short, at 2am we were in The Merchant Hotel pissed as farts, drinking cocktails and not looking as sophisticated as we had intented!! Today my head hurts and i am never drinking again!

Get The Party Started, It's Friday Night...

...Everybody's moving to the rhythm of the night!

Except me! It's Friday night and Rosa is staying in!! Whoa!
Belfast is going to be a quite city tonight!

I like this sofa and thought it was mildly topical.

Just call me 'Shimoarika'!

So I have just learnt that my ninja name is 'Shimoarika' - How cool is that!!

What's yours...

Make your ninja name from the following alphabet:

A- ka * B- zu * C- mi * D- te * E- ku * F- lu * G- ji * H- ri * I- ki * J-zu * K- me * L- ta * M- rin * N- to * O-mo * P- no * Q- ke * R- shi *S- ari * T-chi * U- do * V- ru * W-mei * X- na * Y- fu * Z- zi

When i joined the gym (back home) about two year ago, I was asked what I wanted to acheive... I just said... "Make me look like Uma Thurman" the trainer laughed at me!!... Not quite there, still trying, but now i have my ninja name!

Rosa Campbell Bling!!

I have a new smile!

The long awaited day has come... my new smile has arrived! Thanks to all at Holywood Dental Care

And now i can't stop smiling!

Thursday 8 March 2007

Over bent... not bent over!

So i went to yoga last night, but i think i over stretched... i'm really not as flexible as i thought, and today i just hurt!
I can touch my toes now though and i'm firming up... watch out boys... i am gonna be so much bendy fun!!

Wednesday 7 March 2007

It's all go go go!

I am in a really excitable mood this afternoon, i can't stop dancing, singing, making crap jokes... i think i need to burn some energy...
- Any offers boys? Ha ha!
So i have a yoga class tonight, maybe that will help help exocite my energy, soothing the mind, body and soul and all that!
But remember folk, upstairs for thinking, downstairs for dancing... and the middle for doing whatever you like! Way hey hey!

Où est la Gohir?

Gohir is away this morning and there is a sense of calm in the air, it's a bit boring, but we are all getting some work done!!
Gohir, go here, go there... Stop entertaining ladies, visiting the banque, going for steak dinners, and come and join us in the world of work, i'll get family guy fired up for you!

Tuesday 6 March 2007

Steamy fun...

So i was chatting to a very nice young man in the steam room at Esporta last night, I think he is going to take me out sometime... Watch this space...

P.S. It wasn't the lovely man pictured, but I thought all female readers would appreciate him!

Oh brother where art thou??

Well this weekend, he was in the fine town of Holywood, County Down, visiting moi, his lovely wee sister. We had a fabulastical time.
We went to visit the house where Mummy grew up, discovering it was strangely similar to one we grew up in!
But best of all was saturday night... We went to Zen, Belfast's finest Japanese restaurant for dinner... here is a picture of us as proof!
After leaving the Zen, my auto pilot clicked in to gear and took us to the Potthouse, it was great, but i hate having to que for so long in there to get a drink. Then of course the usual satuday night party back at ours!

Friday 2 March 2007

The meaning of blog...

Discussions have been blowing around as to how 'diary' like a blog should be...

Should my blog really divulge all of the goings on in my life, including all the juicy bits?

What happens if... I go on a date (stranger things have happened) and then the next day i write about how it went,

"he was so boring"
"i've never seen anything so small, it was like an extra belly button"
"i've met the man of my dreams, he's amazing, we are going to get married and have babies" and then i do crazy things like put pictures of wedding dresses i like on my blog... And guys, be scared, girls really do think like this... don't they gary?!

So yes, all this would be highly amusing to the general reader but what about if 'the man in question' reads it, he will either be totally embarrassed and worried about his manlyness from then on, or will think i am a complete nutter, and never call me again for fear of bunny boiling, thus no wedding dress or beautiful babies...

So you tell me what you think... how juicy and diary like should a blog be are we talking Bridget Jones, Anne Frank, Adrian Mole or Belle Dejoure??

"Home of the world's finest socks"

I am so excited...

Today the crew are off to Dahlgren in Virginia - "Great, very interesting Rosa", I hear you hark... But wait... Read on...

Dahlgren itself is a magical place in the US of A, just south of Washington DC, this excites me due to Dahlgren's finest product... socks!

And not just any old sock... Dahlgren is "home of the world's finest socks", they are made of Alpaca wool... and best of all
I am getting a pair!! The kind Laura has agreed to bring me back a pair of the world's finest socks to warm my wee toes!

Just so you know (I fell my blog should double as an information service) the alpaca is a domesticated species of South American developed from the wild vicuña. It resembles a sheep in appearance, but is larger and has a long erect neck.
You can buy them here , not that i recommend this, it is just a suggestion.

Over and out.

Bridget Jones In The Making!

So I was watching Bridget Jones the other night with my lovely friend Katie, and much to my dismay I realise I am heading in a very straight line up Bridget Jones street... I need to get a u-turn in there and get back on the right side of the road.
All advice welcome...

And the world of blogging begins...

So i thought it was about time i started my own blog. After many months of entertainment from reading the delightful Gohir's blog, maybe i can delight some people with the goings on in my world... or maybe not!

Well, from this day on, i shall give it a go...
